Spain’s first commercial production of green hydrogen has been achieved at Iberdrola’s green H2 plant in Zona Franca of Barcelona.
Vysus Group’s Risk Management team is delighted to have been involved in the innovative project, which will produce, store and supply hydrogen to heavy vehicles – specifically Barcelona Metropolitan Transport buses. The first Caetano hydrogen bus has already arrived at the plant.
Our team delivered a range of technical safety and risk studies to help ensure the new hydrogen refilling station will operate safely. We provided a Hazard Identification study (HAZID), consequence modelling and a Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), as well as a Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) studies.
Our technical consultants have received positive feedback from Iberdrola, with the customer thanking the team for our contribution.
Project manager, Pedro Mª Aranguren, said: “I consider it very important to highlight the effort made by all the participants in the project. In this regard, I would like to send a message of sincere thanks to the entire Vysus team that has participated in achieving this important success.
“There have been challenges throughout this year that have been solved really well thanks to the Vysus team, their capacity, experience and availability when we needed you the most. Thank you very much and congratulations on your excellent work.”
Project lead, Angel Casal, said: “We are so pleased to have been involved in this pioneering project. It was a great team effort and to hear such positive feedback from our customer is fantastic. We look forward to supporting more projects in the green hydrogen sector and wish Iberdrola the very best with the green H2 plant.”
